There are many ways to make a few extra bucks while serving your time that can also help the hours go by quicker. Many inmates that have skills in sewing can make clothes for instance lots of people want their sweatpants modified into shorts, so on and so forth. If you know anything about electronics you can make a good living fixing broken TVs and radios. Tattoo artists make more than anyone as everyone wants a prison tattoo though I don't recommend it due to health reasons. Tattoo guns are easy to make if I have a pair of beard trimmers and can also be used as soldering guns when combined with lead pencils and electricity instead of a needle and ink. If you were a drug dealer in the outside world there are plenty of customers in jail and the cost of the product can be marked up to %100 over street value. That is if you can get your product inside the prison. This is usually achieved through a visit or a guard on the take. My point being, just because your incarcerated doesn't mean you can't hustle or work to make a living. Just ask any of the lifers you run into that will have the knowledge to do most if not all of the above.
