Upgrading my hard drive to Samsung 830 series SSD
I'm contemplating upgrading my hard drive on my Dell XPS 15z to a Samsung SSD or solid state drive 830 series. This will give the laptop more speed when booting or downloading/uploading files and also enhance many other applications and programs. Currently I'm running a Seagate hard drive and the XPS 15z is extremely fast and powerful but the SSD drive seems like a smart move seeing as technology and laptops in general are headed in that direction anyways. The Dell XPS 15z is pretty much future proof right now except for the solid state drive but with that added it will be possibly the best performing laptop on the market for it's size. I believe it already is even compared to a Macbook Pro. Dell is one of if not the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with but the XPS line of laptops and desktops is an exception. The XPS 14z and the new XPS 13 ultrabook are also both top of the line in style and performance. These new notebooks and ultrabooks are also less than an inch thick so you can easily carry them to work or school just like I do. I carry my 15 inch laptop to both. In the past this would have been impossible. I have an Inspiron from Dell that is a 15 inch as well, the Inspiron 15r and it is so massive I could never carry it anywhere unless absolutely necessary. I'm also contemplating purchasing the ultrabook from Dell but for $1300 for a 13 inch ultrabook, I'm not sure yet. I don't really think it is worth the price tag but upgrading my current Dell laptop of choice to an SSD drive is certainly another option I'm considering. SSD drives have gone down in price considerably since a few years back but 256GB of storage is still gonna cost me almost $500 from Samsung. They make the best SSD drives on the market today by far. I was also looking at Intel but I hear they are crap and the prices are basically the same so why bother getting anything other than the best. I also have an outstanding history with Samsung and trust the quality of the companies products. I own the SGS2 smartphone and the Galaxy Tablet 10.1 32GB as well and both are amazing products that never fail me. The other option is an SSD cache drive by Corsair for around $100 for a 60GB model, which is the highest they make for this option. This SSD drive caches all your most used files and applications automatically using software and supposedly increases the boot time and speed of the computer but I'm not so sure I fully trust this method yet. If anyone out there has used one of these cache SSD drives with success or failure for that matter please inform me. Anyways, I will keep you posted as to what I decide to do. It's come down to purchase the new Dell XPS 13 ultrabook for $1300 or upgrade my Dell XPS 15z to a Samsung SSD drive 830 series for about $500.
